About Parksville Baptist Church
On the move! I tried to think of words or
phrases that would best describe Parksville Baptist Church and I think
that’s it… on the move. Please allow me just a few minutes to share with
you why I think that’s important.
My wife Jane and I had the wonderful privilege of being able to travel our
country for seven years in full-time evangelism before coming to
Parksville. We’ve been in lots and lots of churches and quite frankly,
most of them aren’t moving. As a matter of fact, most of them stopped
moving a long time ago. Somewhere along the line, the folks decided that
they liked where they were in their spiritual journey and decided to “set
up camp” and they’ve been there ever since.
You know, that would probably be OK if where most churches were then and
still are today, was reaching our world with the love and message of
Jesus, but the sad truth is…it’s not. Sometimes churches are some of the
hardest organizations in the world to get moving again once they’ve
stopped, but with God’s help that has happened and continues to happen at
Parksville Baptist.
We are moving back to the basics of New Testament faith. We are moving
toward God in vital relationships that draw us closer to Him each day. We
are moving out of our building and into our community to share the love of
Christ with those around us. We are moving away from personal independence
and toward experiencing what it means to be a part of the family of God.
We are moving away from the “sacrifice” of hollow traditions toward the
“obedience” of spirit-led living.
One last thing. We are moving toward an honesty that says we are on a
journey. We haven’t arrived. We don’t have it all figured out. We don’t
have all the answers…but we’re trying real hard to stay in touch with “The
Answer” as we move toward being genuine followers of Christ.
